Abstract :
This paper examines youth empowerment and entrepreneurship as a panacea for job creation in Nigeria. In order to arrest the growing rate of insecurity occasioned by poverty and unemployment. A growing economy would require a greater number of youth who are willing and able to become an entrepreneur, who can and able to launch and successfully develop their own commercial ventures, who are capable of becoming innovators in the wider organization in which they engage themselves. Entrepreneurship can help to tap economic potential of youth and be a source of Job creator. Also this paper intends to look at an aspect of entrepreneurial experience that could help youth develop skills that can be applied to other challenges in life. At the same time, the need to provide opportunities for entrepreneurship skills development of the youth and input as self-entrepreneurship in them so as to encourage them towards self-reliance. The researcher recommended among other things that the government should genuinely recognize the essence of entrepreneurship, job creation and innovation to economic development by providing the enabling environment for the youth to be gainfully empowered for economic development.
